Mr.Madisons present: comparing two articles

Similarities for article #1 and #2:

• Both explain teacher layoffs in the western south.
• Both say that just because a teacher got a lay off, dosent mean that they are fired
• Both give an exact number of teacher lay off's.

Differences for article #1 and #2:

• Article two explains that a pink slip isn't permanent, it's just a way for the legislative to figure out the budget.
• Article one explains that school funds are bases off of attendance.
• Article two compares pink slips to 2009 and 2010.
• Article one explains that the last hired teachers are usualy the first fired. And that the first hired teachers are usualy the last fired.

WHAT WOULD I DO??????

Just because I am a teen, dosent mean I can't make suggestions. I would fing an alternative source to help with school budget. Cutting off teachers and increasing classroom sizes is a bad idea, it ruins the childs ability to learn and develope. I would ask school's to spend money wisely such as using solar panels, recycling, etc. If we used these, then we could increase the budget thus helping with teacher lay offs. I know this won't completly stop teacher lay offs, but if we all make these small differences, then we can stop teacher lay offs.

Mr. Madison's 2'nd article present

Questions:

• If the 111 teachers "may" be laid off, does that mean that some won't be fired?
• Why is it that short termed teachers do not receive pink slips?
• Why is it that teachers in wealthier areas are given more layoffs.

Summary:
   The article is saying how 111 teachers got layoff notices. The article continues to say that 450 teachers received layoff notices in 2009 and 600 teachers got layoff notices in 2010. But, the author says that just because the teachers receive notices, doesn't mean that there fired. The district states that it is a "backward budgeting" and that the legislative branch needs to approve of the budget before they decide which teachers leave.

Concerns:

• Why not figure out the budget and then give out notices?
• How is it because of the budget "money" that teachers have to take the heat? Can't they find an alternative solution to the budget?

• What is the goverment doing to stop this problem?

Summary:
     250 teachers in the southwest area have been given pink slip's. March 15 is the final deadline for teachers to be notified. School recieves mony from attendance of students. But because of the recent house value dropping, students have been leaving the area. Teachers that were enrolled last are usually the ones to be laid off first. But, veteran teachers can also be laid off.

Concerns

• Why cant the goverment just print more money in order to help the country out?
• Another concern is how is it that schools get paid due to attendance? Where does that money come from?

Current event for the Revelutionary war

Title of article: ESCONDIDO: Fewer people protesting police checkpoints
Connection to the revolutionary war

    In Escondido, fewer people are protesting about licence regulations. Protestors state hat there are fewer protestors in front of police checkpoints. One of the protestors biggest complaints was a new law that says someone who isnt licensed to be able to call and tow a licensed driver. In fact, protestors say that they will no longer protest, but simply oppose the law.


     How is this related to what we are learning in class? Well, just like the protestors, the colonists werent happy about all the laws and taxes that were being made by the king. So they had an protest that would eventualy leave five dead. Thats when the revelutionary war sparked. After all the wars and battles, we eventualy made a peace treaty with the British. The peace treaty is known as the Treaty of Paris. This treaty says that all future conflicts will be resolved peacfully with America and the colonies. This is related to the article because the protestors werent happy about a few laws, eventualy the goverment and the protestors  came to an agreement. Just like the colonists did with British.

     I see this in life alot. The goverment makes and passes a law and a group of people arent happy about it. People protest untill they get what they want. The colonists wanted Indipendance and protested and fought until they got it. Somtimes, protests can get out of control and causes injury, hatred, and even death. These protests often lead to more protests and fighting. Just like the Boston Massacre, colonists started to throw stuff at the troops and that made the troops open fire and the people.

     I think that protesting is super important in forming our goverment. In fact protesting supports the, " Free consent of the people." Protesting helps the goverment relize that the goverment is, "By the people, for the people". Without protesting, then why have a great nation of freedom and rights? Without protesting, people would go mad and the whole nation would fall apart. And thats my current event for the Revelution War.

Iraq's parliament started on Tuesday as Sunni's lawmaker's ended the boycott against the persecution of official's. Goverment official such as law maker's and goverment officials were not allowed to attend cabinent meeting's and the paraliment because of Sunni's Iraqiya bloc. The reason for the law was because of the vice president being accused of terrorism.Citizens werent happy of the law and started protesting, the protesting lead to 200 dead. Because of the boycott, the goverment went into crisis. The Iraq goverment then decided to take the paraliment ban away hopeing that this will help restore the goverment.

This is related to chapter 6 because this explains how the goverment excluded another part of the goverment. Just like how the king just made rules and started taxing the colonies without there approval. This evetualy lead to an uprising that caused the colonies to rebel and protest against the king. The fighting eventually lead to colonies having indipendant's against the king.

This relates to my life because I have seen people protest on tv for an important cause that involves the goverment. This way of life have been with our country for quite a while. Protesting against the king let the colonist's have indipendance just like we get to make a change.

I think that Iraq should secure there goverment better. If they were to check there officials they wouldnt have to deal with this ordeal. I do think that if they fix there goverment one piece at a time, then they will be able to restore their goverment.

Article Title:

World stocks jolted by North Korean leader's death

      The death of King John made the European markets higher. This will have a huge affect on the world stock exchange. But its not just Europe that's improving, Germany rose 0.7 percent. Paris rose 0.2 percent and Britain rose 0.3 percent.

      How does this relate to the colonies in the 1700's? People in the colonies relied on other parts of the world for trade and economic support. This trade is called the Colombian exchange. Just like the article if one part of the world changes, then the other parts of the world will be affected too.

     This affects my life because I am part of the world. Anything that happens in the stock exchange will affect me because the stock exchange supports the whole worlds economy. If something goes wrong, then my "colony" will be affected. Just like if something goes wrong in the Colombian exchange, then the colonies would have dramatic changes whether good or bad. 

       In class we are learning about the settlement of the thirteen colonies and how it settled and how there government and economy developed. We also learned that the world has something called the Colombian exchange. Back then the world usually traded slaves, whine, art, and fabrics. Today we trade money, and as the stock exchange changes, just remember we are equally affected by the change.

Terrorist fired rockets on Thursday at site where more than 2,000 Afghan elders were having a national assembly to talk about the future of U.S. military being in Afghanistan, officials said. Both rockets missed the elders, but one man was injured.

 

This relates the article to what we are learning in a few ways. One way is when people from around the globe came to America, they fought Indians or helped Indians in war. Such as the U.S military is helping to get rid of terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq. We are also learning that the when the French came to America they helped the Huron Indians fight the Iroquois Indians. This example relates to the article because our military is helping another country against an enemy they both hate.

 

I can relate this article to my own life because I am an American citizen protected by a military. I have heard about wars from today or from the past on t.v and they all had a cause. War is something that us Americans have faced for as long as it was formed.

 

I fell that war is one of the most disastrous things on earth. It can also eventually end up destroying our planet. I understand that war has its reasons but war has to stop. War boils up more and more hatred that could rip us apart. So, what do I think of this article? I think that its good yet bad, the bad being that its war, the good being that its for a cause.
